Spoilers: We knew we recognized that face… Figgy from Survivor is on Squid Game: The Challenge! Known as Jessica Figueroa, those survival skills simply couldn’t go to waste on the new Netflix spin-off. Seven years after she was stripped of everything but her need for food and water, Figgy is back.
Figgy has already become a fan winner on Squid Game: The Challenge. Netflix fans instantly recognized her, having appeared on Survivor seven years ago. In 2016, Figgy was marooned on an island in Fiji playing a game she had always dreamt of as a kid. Now, she’s returned to the playing field.
Who is Jessica Figueroa?
Jessica Figueroa, known as Figgy, is a Survivor and Squid Game: The Challenge star. During her time on Survivor, she developed a relationship with her co-star Taylor Stocker, but has since moved on.
The 30-year-old is now engaged to her fiancé, Austin Dirks, who she shares a dog with. From Nashville, Tennessee, she previously worked as a bartender, and moved into the teaching industry after Survivor.
Despite being transferred to the new Takali tribe with a numerical majority of former Vanua members on the ABC show, she was ultimately blindsided by fellow millennial Adam Klein, resulting in her elimination.
Survivor’s Figgy meets Squid Game
Jessica featured on 2016’s Survivor: Millennials vs Gen-X. Figgy is now player 033 in the Netflix show, but unfortunately was eliminated before episode 6, much to the disappointment of fans.
She wrote: “I was marooned on an island in Fiji playing a game I dreamt of as a kid. 7 years later I heard a series I loved was becoming a reality show and knew it was time to make my return to the playing field.”
Jessica Figgy, who was 23 at the time, is best remembered for her in-game relationship on Survivor as well as her disagreements with fellow Millennials tribe member Michaela Bradshaw.

Jessica has been working as a science teacher for sixth grade students since her Survivor fame. Her pupils refer to her as Miss. Frizzle, and has worked at the same school for three years.
She previously attended Middle Tennessee State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies: Grades 5-9 Science. Figgy has worked at Valor Collegiate Academies since 2021.
Before joining Survivor, Jessica Figgy worked in The Encounters at Indianapolis Zoo, as well as a former Camarero at Texas Roadhouse. More recently, she coaches volleyball and plans school Aquarium trips!
